This expansion released only a few months after I arrived at Amplitude, but I was able help tune the new faction and espionage actions and to design how the computer opponents should handle spying and invisibility.

For this update I did an overhaul of the game's computer opponents, tuning hundreds of heuristic weights and adding faction personalities (which cause the AI play each faction differently). I was able to drastically improve the AI's performance across the board, and in particular when it is fighting tactical battles or conducting diplomacy.

This was the first expansion where I truly moved into a system design role: my goal was to "fix" the passive winter periods and the tendency for players to build cities following a fixed template. To this end I designed and tuned the Allayi faction's traits and units, the Pearl generation algorithm, and the Altar of Auriga's bidding system.

For this expansion I designed and tuned the weather and ocean control systems, the new naval classes, units and equipment, the Morgawr faction's traits and units, and the sunken ruins and floating fortresses. In other words, I had a hand in everything except the faction questline. This DLC was the crowning achievement of my time on Endless Legend: I'm particularly proud of how different the shape of a Morgawr empire is from that of other factions!
